Modifying the Kitty Hawk 1/48 Banshee Wing Folds to Glue the Outer Wings in the Down Position

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

I am making some modifications as I test build another Banshee to improve the fit of the resin to KH parts. I decided to do something about the outer wing to center wing folds to help align and stiffen the glue join for a wings down model.

This will work if you are using the Banshee Resin Correction Set or building the KH kit out of the box.

Use KH wing fold parts B41, 42, 43 and 44. Keep the raised fold mechanism and remove the raised detail fore and aft on B41 and 44. Remove all raised detail on parts B42 and 43. I cut off the lower molded actuator rod and replaced with .015" brass wire. Glue .050" (.020" + .030") sheet styrene to the inside of the KH parts. Sand and dry fit. Repeat until wing join gap is gone.

This should make for a strong glue join.
